Space

Pad · Lesson 4 of 4 · PD4

Exercise Add reverb to set depth.
Result A lush, wide pad over the bed.

The 4th step of the pad track in PatchPond's subtractive synthesis curriculum. Width, motion, space — and this lesson is where you meet reverb (size/mix) for the first time.

What you'll learn

Playing the same note in a phone booth, a living room, and a cathedral.

Reverb simulates the sound of a space — the thousands of small reflections that follow any sound made in a room, hall, or cave. Size sets how big the imagined space is, which controls how long the tail lasts and how dense the reflections feel. Read more →

Build this lesson live in the PatchPond studio. Web MIDI in, on-screen keyboard otherwise. The patch you make here loads back into iOS later on — same patch format.
